Beth Harrison, Anderson School District Four’s Teacher of the Year
Beth teaches STEM, grades K-6th at Mount Lebanon Elementary School. Here is a comment on her teaching experiences in her own words:
“I first realized I wanted to be a teacher as an adult, after volunteering and substitute teaching in my child’s school. To anyone considering entering the teaching profession I will say, ‘as a teacher, you will wear many hats and these roles require practice and skills that are often not taught in teacher preparation programs. Be prepared to be flexible!’ The hardest part of being a teacher is finding balance between your professional career and personal life. What I find that I love the most about teaching is being able to inspire my students to take risks. I wish them luck with all future endeavors!”
