Emily Grant, Anderson School District Three’s Teacher of the Year
Emily teaches art, k4-5, with great passion and vigor for the subject matter and students alike! Here’s a bit of her story:
“I always had great teacher role models from my mom and my grandmother. Education was engrained in my family, and I knew from seeing my mother teach and interact with her students the influence that teachers can have. It wasn’t until my junior year of high school, that I really began moving in that direction. After going to my school’s career center and finding out that the medical field just wasn’t for me, I realized where my true calling was. That calling was solidified when I participated in the Teacher Cadet program my senior year. Basically, I should have listened to my mom all along!
I love that as an art teacher I get to interact with every student in my school. I see the diverse needs and interests of my students daily. Getting to know my students is by far what I love most about teaching.

The most satisfying part of my day is seeing the smile on my students faces when they create something they thought they had no idea they could create. This is a profession where you are rewarded in ways that you wouldn’t imagine. We shape the future, and you should want to be a part of that.”
