Florence One Teacher Wins Caribbean Cruise as Part of Statewide Teacher Appreciation Month

Bojangles’ partners with SC Future Minds to honor educators and support public schools

A Florence School District One Middle School teacher has won a four-day, five-night Caribbean cruise from Bojangles’ and South Carolina Future Minds as part of its Teacher Appreciation Month promotion.

Stacy Magee, a 7th grade Science teacher at Southside Middle School, was awarded the cruise today during a surprise ceremony at the school. Awarding her the cruise was Ken Reynolds, Director of Field Marketing for Bojangles.

Ms. Magee was nominated by a student at Southside Middle who said in his nomination: “She taught me well and she makes things easy.”

As part of the announcement and celebration, Southside Middle School’s teachers were treated to BoBerry biscuits and tea from Bojangles’.

During the month of May, students, parents and community members honored teachers with online tributes through SC Future Minds, the non-profit that connects private support to public schools in South Carolina. At month end, Ms. Magee was selected at random to win the cruise. Past winners from across the state have included teachers from Chesterfield, Johnsonville and Lexington.

Also, during Teacher Appreciation Month in May, participating Bojangles’ stores throughout the state gave teachers a free Legendary Iced Tea or other beverage with any purchase. They also gave each public school employee a card giving them free Legendary Iced Tea all year long. “At Bojangles’, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve, and we’re proud to partner with South Carolina Future Minds to continue honoring hard-working educators during South Carolina Teacher Appreciation Month,” said Bojangles’ President and CEO Clifton Rutledge. “We have all experienced the positive impact of a caring and committed teacher, so we’re honored to play even a small part in supporting their efforts.”

Bojangles’ will also honor South Carolina’s teacher leaders at the Bojangles’ 500 at Darlington Raceway over Labor Day Weekend. And starting in September the company will raise money for SC Future Minds’ early childhood literacy program, My First Library, at their stores across the state.

To continue to honor teachers year-round, South Carolina Future Minds has started a #teacherherotuesday campaign where a #teacherhero will be honored on our social media pages every week. To submit a tribute to your favorite teacher, visit
