Leadership South Carolina and SC Future Minds launch Inspire A Career website

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Leadership South Carolina and SC Future Minds launch Inspire A Career
Website to connect rural public school students with diverse careers

Columbia, SCInspire A Career, a free online platform launching today, provides students, particularly those in rural school districts, with greater access to more diverse career opportunities by establishing a direct connection between the education community and business community members willing to participate in career-focused classroom or school-wide events.

The website, www.inspireacareer.com, allows members of the business community (“Inspirers”) to identify their occupation, skills or interests and indicate the geographical area in which the Inspirer would be willing to serve. Educators, guidance counselors, and other organizers of career-focused events can then search, filter, and invite Inspirers to present at their school about their professional journey.

South Carolina is rich in opportunities for higher education and employment for students finishing high school. However, the limited resources of the education community, particularly in rural areas, often make it difficult to engage the statewide business community. Additionally, many civic and business leaders are eager to support public school students but remain unclear on how to engage with their schools or teachers in a meaningful way. Inspire A Career provides a free, easy-to-use solution to this challenge.

Inspire A Career is a project of Leadership SC, developed by the 2017 Class of Fellows, and will be hosted on an ongoing basis by statewide education nonprofit SC Future Minds.

Business and civic leaders are invited to become an Inspirer, and educators are invited to connect with them, by visiting www.inspireacareer.com.
