Mary Hall-Kellar, Florence School District Four’s Teacher of the Year
Mary is a motivated media specialist at Brockington Elementary. Here is a bit of her story:
“When I was 5 years old, I knew what I wanted to be. Most kids were playing teacher, but not me–I was the librarian. I had books set up around my room for my friends to check out!
The most satisfying part of my day is seeing a student’s eyes light up when I read a story to them that they love as much as I do. To anyone I would say, ‘this is hard work, long hours, and at times frustrating, but the feeling that you get when you see a child figure something out that has been frustrating them is like nothing else.’ I love that I can share my joy of literature with the students, each day is different and invigorating.”
