Michael teaches english and social studies at Coastal Evaluation Center. He stays busy making a difference in the lives of children who have much to overcome. Here is a bit of his story:
“I discovered I wanted to teach in high school. The reason I find teaching rewarding is because you can see the progress being made in a young person. There are few professions in which you can experience progress in people.
The hardest part of my job is working with people who do not hold the same ideals as I do for teaching. Of course, I work in a special school and there are many people I work with who are not involved in education. Regardless, the most satisfying part of the day involves working with small groups of students after school. I am able to teach South Carolina’s toughest kids and see how education makes a difference in their world.”
