Teariney is a 3rd grade ELA Kelly Edwards Elementary who has dreamed of teaching since about their age! Here is a bit of her story in her own words:
“I’ve known that I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was in elementary school. I loved playing school with my stuffed animals. I would line them up on the stairwell in my house and teach them for hours.
The most satisfying part of my day is doing shared reading with my students and listening to their fluency improve each day. I love to hear their confidence building as they read aloud. I would tell someone that is thinking of entering the teaching profession, I would say this: ‘If you love what you do, it will show through your teaching, and it will trickle down to your students as well.’
What I love most about my job is having the opportunity to mold young lives every day. You work hard to give your students all that you can for the eight hours that you have them at school, and then many of them go home to little support. As a teacher that is one of the most heartbreaking and hardest facts to face. Every child has the potential to be successful but parents and teachers have to work together to ensure that happens.
Not only do I love to teach, but I also enjoy mentoring and inspiring my students to be the best that they can be.”
